"The heavy hitter of the west metro. It's a buy-in model (CCRC), so the upfront cost is steep, but the financial predictability is the selling point. The architecture is the real thing. Feels like a high-end lodge."

How much does senior living cost in Minneapolis?

Independent living runs $2,000–$4,500/month. Assisted living ranges from $3,500–$7,000/month. Memory care typically starts at $5,000/month and goes up from there. These are Twin Cities averages — specific communities vary.

What's the difference between independent living and assisted living?

Independent living is basically a maintenance-free apartment or townhome in a 55+ community — you cook, drive, and live independently. Assisted living adds help with daily activities like medication management, bathing, and meals.

How do I know which community is right for my parent?

Start with the level of care they need right now, then factor in what they'll likely need in 2–3 years. The biggest mistake adult children make is choosing based on amenities instead of care trajectory. I've toured all of these — call me and I'll give you my honest take.

Does Medicare pay for assisted living in Minnesota?

No. Medicare does not cover assisted living or memory care costs. Minnesota's Elderly Waiver (MA-Waiver) may help low-income residents. Long-term care insurance and VA benefits can also help. Most costs come out of pocket.
