Orono market — Under $750K bracket

Orono sells land first and houses second — a teardown on a wooded lot can command $600,000 for the dirt and privacy alone. There's no downtown; errands mean Wayzata or Long Lake. Median price is $1,300,000 with 35 days on market. Chris Deutsch of Lakes Area Realty reads lot value here before walking inside the house.

Chris Deutsch's honest take

Orono is where you go for privacy. You don't want to see your neighbors? Perfect. You want a 2-acre lot with 100-year-old oaks? This is it. It’s high-end but private.

The trade-off

You are driving for everything. There is no 'downtown' Orono. You are going to Wayzata or Long Lake for milk.
